Biggest reason I see is that compounded turbos will be A LOT nicer to drive, tow, etc. Diesels have a relatively narrow powerband and lag can be a b*#ch with a monster turbo that can support 60,90, etc + psi. Parallel smaller twins have certain benefits IF you can package them, which turns into an issue as well.
